One of the most interesting things about tattoos is finding out why people get them. There is an infinite amount of possibilities when it comes to body art, and hearing stories about the purpose behind the tattoo can be very moving. Or not. Today we look at some tattoos where folks had quotes inscribed to reveal something very personal….
This first one was etched on a 14 year old who was sent to juvenile hall on aggravated assault charges that ended in a fatality. His juvie chums tattooed ‘Jebac Sad’, which, translated means F*&% Court! Why you ask did he have this etched? Well, start off with the fact that he was 14 for one. His reasoning however is as follows:
“I felt harmed by the court’s decision, during the assault I was with two of my friends but they weren’t sent to the juvenile hall like I was.”.
Now he’s 21 and his life has changed as a result of his sentence, which will end in 2010. To prove his fresh start, he had the tatt removed through a painful skin stretching and a cutting out of the tattoo. Is anyone else shuddering along with me? EESH!!!!
Here’s another inscription that clearly expresses a reflection of sorrow within someone.
The inscription says,
…I AM IMPRISONED BY GREED, HATE, ENVY AND SELFISHNESS. THE ONLY KEY TO UNLOCK THE DOOR BY WHICH I AM ENTRAPPED IS THE KEY TO SPIRITUALITY…
While we don’t know the real story behind this one, this is interesting, sad, and…interesting all at the same time. Art that declares a troubling of the mind. A classic example of ‘Art for Arts Sake’.
