If you are thinking about getting your first tattoo, or another tattoo, the one thing that is probably most prevalent on your mind is what to get, what design to choose, what kind of tattoo do you want? Perhaps you’d like to enter the bold new trend of politics, as it seems the Putin tattoo is the next big thing, at least in Omsk it is. A Tattoo-studio in the Siberian city of Omsk offers its clients bio-tattoos of Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin, whose popularity among ordinary people is still big.

The tattoo is made with Iranian henna and stays on the skin for more than 10 days. Tattoo-artist Tatiana Zharova says, that recently clients seem to prefer modern cultural icons over the more traditional images.

Tired of drawing portraits of Che Gevara, she started to offer bio-tattos of Russian prime-minister Vladimir Putin. Tatiana says, that his portraits are very popular at the moment and clients are also looking for some mystical and sacral meaning like tattoos of native Americans.

Says Sergey Petrov, one of her clients:

“I think Putin will bias on the life in future, especially on my life, 1/8 his image 3/8 will strengthen some strong features to my character, and add some of his.”

Tatiana Zharova says that she has two versions of Putin Tattoo - one for men and one for women. “For men we offer more focused, more serious and you can say more evil image (of Putin) and for ladies - more cunning and romantic one”, she says. By the end of November Putin’s approval rating was at 74 percent, while President Dmitry Medvedev was only at 61 percent, according to a poll released by the independent polsters Levada Centre.
