An Evasham-based tattoo artist has just returned from the tattooist’s version of the Oscars with a prestigious award marking him out as one of the best in his profession in the world. Terry Fuller, whose booming business Full On Ink, in Port Street, is defying the credit crunch, attended Rick’s 13th Tattoo Convention in Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA, where he beat off stiff competition to win the Top Three Artists’ Choice Best Black and Grey Award.
He won his acclaimed prize for a full leg sleeve tattoo, which he said was about 50 hours work, and modelled by a friend and customer who flew out with him.

“It is the 7th award I have won for my tattooing, and apart from the first award I ever won, this is my favourite as I was up against the best in the world.”

Terry said he was ‘chuffed to bits’ to win it, and said the award makes up for the expense it cost him to get to the convention. He describes tattooing as a bonding experience, and says a lot of his customers and friends agree. They love getting tattoos by him, and now that he is an award winner, they love to show off his work.

And if tough economic times are hindering some from getting a tattoo, Terry says just the opposite. People are using this experience to commemorate moments in their lives and that business is actually booming despite the flailing economy.
And now that he’s heard the official ‘and the winner is’ my guesses are that business will continue to do so.
