For a Western audience, Chinese characters simply look appealing. They're like pictures of something mysterious or exotic, I don't think we tend to view them as actual words. Joanne Raine's tattoo still looks good. She should have checked the text with a translation agency first but what's done is done. So long as she doesn't actually go around telling people what the tattoo actually means, most people aren't going to know anything about it.
