If there is anything about Katy Perry that is even more eccentric than her ever-changing hair colour, it’s her assortment of colourful tattoos.  News has been circling widely about her divorce from Russell Brand and the possibility of regret over their matching tattoos or even the tattoos that they had done together.  Since she’s currently waltzing around with blue hair, it seems to us that Perry probably doesn’t really do regret, but that’s not to say she’s not at least a little irritated about the fact that much of her ink carries with it reminders of a failed marriage.

With all of the news surrounding the recent split of Katy Perry and Russell Brand, we thought it was time to take a closer look at the ink that Brand is sporting.  Brand, who has been quoted as calling himself an “S&M Willy Wonka” has always had a lot of controversy surrounding him, and has always been, in a word, “original.”  The same can be said of Brand’s array of tattoos which vary greatly in look and meaning.

So just recently, uncomfortably attractive barely legal actress Selena Gomez stopped by Under The Gun in Los Angeles to get her very first tattoo!  Be still my beating heart!  Upon hearing the news that Selena Gomez was getting inked, the paparazzi quickly descended upon the famous tattoo parlour to see what she was getting inked on.  Was she getting a full sleeve?  Maybe a cobra with its tail wrapped around a very phallic missile and an American flag in those side-flat things on his head (I call him Freedom Cobra)?  Or maybe something simple like a Popeye anchor tattoo on her forearms?  The world waited on baited breath to discover what Selena Gomez’s new tattoo would be until finally she emerged from the tattoo parlour to reveal…

For many individuals, the idea of having a tattoo inked may come with mixed feelings.  Many decide against it for the simple fact that a tattoo is something that you must live with for the rest of your life.  Others can’t wrap their mind around the fact that actual ink will be embedded within their skin for all of eternity.  Maybe the thought of being in constant pain for the better part of a couple of hours is too much for you to fathom.  However, if you truly want a tattoo, especially as a memorial, that is simply a chance you must be willing to take.

Mark Wahlberg, sometimes known as Marky mark can be seen on the front of many magazines and papers today, as he sets out to remove some of the tattoos he has etched onto his body.  In a recent interview, Mark told reporters about the extreme pain and discomfort he has gone through in order to remove some of his undesirable additions to his body.  Below is a transcript that Mark gave to a reporter recently about the ongoing process of his tattoos being removed.

In a recent interview, Mark stated that, “When you get a tattoo it’s one sitting and you sit there and have a few beers until it’s done, but I’ve been to the tattoo removal sessions 30 times already.  It’s like having hot bacon grease flicked on you over and over again.  It’s not fun.”

New York Knicks star Amar’e Stoudemire has returned to the team’s lineup after missing four games due to the sad death of his older brother Hazell in a car accident at the beginning of February.  Stoudemire was very close to his brother as he is with the rest of his family and at the time his coach said that it was “a trying time” and that his “thoughts and prayers were with the family”.  In honour of his brother, star forward Amar’e Stoudemire has had a teardrop design inked just under his right eye.

Since her debut 1997 film Nowhere, Mena Suvari has gone on to become somewhat of a popular actress, starring in American Beauty, American Pie, Day of the Dead and The Mysteries of Pittsburgh.  When she isn’t busy appearing in films and television shows like HBO’s Six Feet Under, she is busy involved with charities whose cause is breast cancer, taking part in the “End Violence Against Women” campaign, being an activist for the African Medical and Research Foundation that is an African relief organisation, modelling for Lancôme cosmetics and appearing in fashion magazines such as Vogue.  She has even branched into fashion design, designing a limited-edition three scarf collection.  She will even travel to high schools and encourage kids to quit smoking.  With as busy as she is, you would think it would be hard for her to find time to get questionable tattoos done, but somehow she manages.

Did you think she’d disappeared?  After news of her affair with brother in law Ryan Giggs hit the headlines last year and after appearing on Celebrity Big Brother things have been quite quiet on the Natasha Giggs front in recent weeks.  She had apparently got back with her husband Rhodri Giggs and the pair of them were getting things back on track… or so it appeared.  So we wonder what he thinks of her new piece of artwork that let’s face it, is not hard to miss.

People think celebrities have it all.  Millions of dollars for not really doing anything but standing around with blank looks on their faces, maybe they have to memorize a few lines of dialogue and walk from one spot to another.  The public adores them, and they get awesome gift baskets just for going to all of those stupid award shows that are filled with iPhones and $50 gift cards to the Black Angus Steakhouse (or maybe even Red Lobster if they are presenting a prestigious award).  Yes it seems like there is nothing celebrities don’t have.  In fact, the only thing that seems to be missing from their lives are collections of incredibly stupid tattoos.  Thankfully, there is a new crop of A-List celebrities taking steps to correct this, presumably so they can go out and eat a Bloomin’ Onion in peace.
