I did it with salt and boiling water- no scars. Salt worked as the sanding mechanism. Bloody- but worth it to get it removed. Have to have a high tolerance for pain or a real will to get rid of the tattoo.

Please don't try this at home, folks! I found this page looking to find out if people really did this, and I'm shocked to find out that it's true. Please consider going a more traditional route with tattoo removal before trying this.

Ouch!!! Sanding the skin....come on...There is better technology today for removing tattoos. Laser treatments are the best. But if the cost for that is to high there are some cream products out there that after several uses will very effectively fade tattoos with minimal pain and NO blood shed. I say try these first!

I think an old tattoo would always look better than big red scars, you're just replacing your tattoo by an injury.

A curling iron does a much better job...get it really hot...ay it on the area you want tatted...count 1-2-3...remove....

it will scab-the black will come off with scab 1-then it will harden...and when that heels the skin will be WHITE underneath or at the very least more faded than with that sandblaster.

now this is what i'm talking about. forget about creams and laser surgery. i'm too poor for nonsense like that. and hey, if you're man enough to sit there while they grind ink into your skin, be man enough to remove it by grinding off the skin. i've been thinking about getting rid of my tattoos. this seems like the best way to me. i had thought about grinding mine off with a dremel tool or this grinder i used for removing rust when i was a mechanic. thanks for posting this.
