Unfortunate Celebrity Reminders

Everyone’s been there at one point, loved up and in the mood to celebrate with the world.  What better way to show someone you’ll love them forever than to get it tattooed on your body permanently?  Except, it can be difficult sustaining a relationship when you’re in the public spotlight 24/7, so it’s not always a surprise when some celebrity relationships break down.

Unfortunately it’s not always as easy as packing a box full of their things and trash talking them to your friends when you’ve got their name on your wrist or a full on declaration of love on your chest.  Here are some stars with tattoos who might be sorely regretting their ink decisions.

Colin Farrell and Jude Law both suffered buyer’s remorse after having their spouses names tattooed onto their arms.  Both elected to keep the tattoos – we’re not sure if it’s because they were afraid of the pain of removal or because they really didn’t mind having them.  Either way, we can’t imagine any new girlfriends are going to be best pleased.

Angelina Jolie had some weird habits when it came to ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton (including wearing a vial of his blood around her neck, way to creep everyone out, Angelina) but she obviously had hopes it would last forever because she had a giant tat of his name done on her arm.  She’s since had it removed, and seemingly learnt her lesson as she has stated she’ll “never be stupid enough to have a man’s name tattooed on me again.”  Phew.

Actress Denise Richards and “Winning” celebrity Charlie Sheen had matching tattoos done when they were married.  Charlie went one step further from just having her name removed when he struck up with someone new.  The star vowed to have all 13 of his tattoos removed after then fiancé Broom Mueller revealed that she hated them.  Although he didn’t actually go through with it, and they eventually got divorced anyway, Denise did cover her tattoo up with a fairy.  Tattoo removal is also not for keeps, apparently.

We’re not sure how Winona Ryder felt about her name being tattooed onto Johnny Depp with his infamous “Winona Forever” ink, but we can imagine it was even more painful to know he then changed it to “Wino Forever” when they split.  Ouch.

Ex footballers wife Cheryl Cole has had a few things to worry about in the last few years – her dreadful music, being kicked off of the American version of X-Factor and oh yes, the “Mrs C” tat she had done on the back of her neck to celebrate her marriage to Ashley Cole.  You’ve got to feel sorry for the poor love – Fight For This Love really was awful, wasn’t it?

Of course there are some pairings that seem to work forever.  Victoria Beckham has a variety of tattoos celebrating her marriage to David including his initials on her wrists and more recently Hebrew script stating “I am my beloved’s, my beloved is mine”.  Good luck to you, VB.  If the above are anything to go by, you might need it.
