Cher is one of the first celebrities to take a liking to her body art. She embraced her tattoos openly in her early years as an artist when her body art matched her outrageous sense of style. It is said that Cher played a pivotal roll in the acceptance of tattoos within main stream popular culture.

The most popular body art that Cher has is her floral and butterfly tattoos, beautifully located on her backside. This design was done by Bob Roberts in Los Angeles in 1972. Cher designed many of her concert outfits around her tattoos so that her backside along with its tats was always visible. In her “If I could Turn Back Time” video, she wore a full body stocking to show off the design.

Cher also has a large design of a flowing necklace on her left upper arm. The necklace has three charms hanging from it with an Egyptian ankh with a cross and a heart. This tat was also done in Los Angeles by a female tattoo artist called Jill Jordan.

She also has many small tattoos inked on her body. She has the Kanji “Chinese symbol” that she says gives her strength on her right shoulder, a small group of Art Deco crystals on her inner right arm, and a black orchid design on her right thigh, just above the crease. She has a lovely plain chrysanthemum inked on her left ankle. Cher also has a black rose on her other ankle.

Cher has treated her body art very much like Angelina Jolie, her collection has ebbed and flowed over many years. She has had some removed and added even more with ongoing laser removal. She has had some of her tattoos for as long as twenty years. She is one lady that loves her body art and has no problem with showing people how much. Who else would have shown her backside to the world in her forties?
