At last count Ms Ricci was seen to be sporting at least eight tattoos, some good, some reasonable and some that look as though someone has been at her with a marker pen, but each to their own – everyone’s taste is different and different tattoo artists have varying skills. Love them or hate them a tattoo is there to stay like it or not.
A Sweet Bouquet
Apparently the bouquet of sweet peas she sports on her lower back is the result of having too much time on her hands while filming Prozac Nation in Canada. It is thought to be the work of Thomas Lockhart from the West Coast Tattoo Shop. Apparently the sweet pea is a symbol of blissful pleasure, but if you want to have something on your skin that gives you pleasure when you look at it, would it not be more appropriate to have it somewhere you can actually see it?
Aslan (apparently)
Aslan the lion, from the Chronicles of Narnia – no I have no idea why either! To be honest for what is considered to be her largest and most prominent tattoo I would have expected something a bit more special that a stylised lion that looks like someone (with limited skill) has drawn onto her shoulder, especially as this is the tattoo that is on show for most of the time.
Bye Bye Bat
Christine was known to have a small bat on her navel, possibly a reminder of her days as Wednesday in the Addams Family, who knows. But now it seems that the bat has been replaced by a set of praying hands. I think I would have kept the bat.
Failry odd Fairy
This tattoo (apparently of a fairy) was spotted when Christina attended the Venice Film festival in 2003. I have to say as Fairies go it’s not the most inspiring, or even fairy like. Perhaps it’s one of the fairies that were squished between the pages of a Lady Cottingham’s Fairy Book?
For Jack
The simple calligraphy of the name jack is on display on here right thigh, apparently this tattoo is in memory of her dead dog of the same name. I guess a plaque on a park bench just wasn’t enough to remember him by.
Mermaid
If mermaids are the sirens of the sea this one won’t be attracting sailors any time soon. This fishy femme fatale is located on her left ankle. Her fishtail looks quite well done but there is something not quite right about the human part of her body.
Swallow
You can’t really go wrong with a traditional tattoo, though why she thinks she can carry off a sailors tattoo is another matter, especially on her breast.
Suggestion or Order?
The last tattoo on record is the scripted ‘Move or Bleed’ written on the left hand side of her ribcage. Whether it’s aimed at the people around her who may get too close or a reminder for herself, only Christina knows.
